Update

18 October 2017

The proposed citizenship changes will not be implemented after the Citizenship Amendment Bill was struck down by the Senate today. Oz Kiwi can now confirm that current citizenship law applies.

13 September 2017

Greens Senator Nick McKim has reported that the Senate has voted to strike down the Citizenship Amendment Bill from the Senate notice paper if it is not dealt with in the next four sitting days.

If It is not debated this week, the Parliament breaks until mid-October then resumes the week of October 16th, so they have until October 18th to deal with it.

If the Senate does not vote on the Bill by 18th October it cannot pass in its current form. It will be stuck from that Senate notice paper.
