90sec: Citizenship Delays

Australian citizenship is precious, yet the Government is not managing the system with integrity. Hundreds of people in Bruce are stuck in limbo: applications stalled, their lives on hold.A recent Federal Court judgement confirmed the problems of unreasonable delay, serious administration issues and mysterious queues.Community anger and despair is real and I’ll be speaking at a community meeting in Dandenong on 25 February.

Julian Hill MP spoke about citizenship processing delays following a critical  report by the Australian National Audit Office.

The Audit Office report revealed 240,000 people were waiting for their citizenship application to be approved. Contrary to LNP Government Minister’s claims, there had been a decrease in “complex cases”.

Citizenship applications are currently taking between 17 and 22 months from lodgement to ceremony.

Citizenship application delays are the Government's fault

After 10 years in Australia, a permanent resident, Ali still can't see his wife & children. All because this miserable government has not processed his citizenship. It's time to vote out the Liberals.
